The remodeling will be carried out on the section of Miguel Marrero Rodríguez Street between its intersection with Manuel Álamo Suárez Avenue (Carpintero de Ribera) and Graciliano Afonso Street, which will also be partially pedestrianized. Action is also carried out on Tomás Morales and El Molino streets.

The Local Government Board of Mogán has awarded a value of 2.277.660,98 euros for the partial pedestrianization works of Miguel Marrero Rodríguez and Graciliano Afonso streets, and the total of Tomás Morales and El Molino, all located in Arguineguín. In these, the lighting improvement, the renewal of the supply network, the burying of part of the Low Voltage Network and the Telecommunications Network will also be carried out.

The pedestrianization of this area, which specifically covers the coastal strip located between Graciliano Afonso Street and the intersection of Miguel Marrero Rodríguez Street and Manuel Álamo Suárez Avenue (Carpintero de Ribera), is one of the actions contemplated by the Sustainability Plan Destination Tourism of the Mogán City Council and will be financed with funds from the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan – Next Generation EU, approximately 75% of the awarded budget.

The works consist of the complete resurfacing of the four aforementioned streets, creating pedestrian areas without uneven sidewalks. Rest areas will also be enabled and auxiliary street furniture elements, new safety railings will be placed, and accessibility improvements will be made. Likewise, the creation of a bicycle lane is planned and a new public lighting network will be installed in accordance with the established energy efficiency parameters.

The interventions described will be complemented by others to improve public services, which will be covered by a grant from Gran Canaria Tourism, which represents 25% of the total investment. In this way, lighting will be improved, the drinking water supply network will be renewed, overhead wiring will be eliminated at the intersections of the different streets and underground pre-installation for the facades will be carried out, which will in turn improve the aesthetics of the Arguineguín seafront. The Telecommunications Network will also be buried.

The Councilor for Public Works, Ernesto Hernández, explained that the objective is to “convert this part of the Arguineguín seafront into a point of tourist and commercial attraction by making it preferably for pedestrian use, which also means significantly reducing noise levels.” .

Likewise, the councilor has indicated that this “is the next step in the transformation” planned by the City Council for Arguineguín. “It gives continuity to other actions such as the conditioning of the Barranco de Pino Seco pedestrian promenade, which connects the upper part of the town with Miguel Marrero Rodríguez Street, to the execution of the underground parking building, which covers the parking demand of the town, and the rehabilitation of El Perchel beach. Now we will give a tourist and commercial boost to the Las Marañuelas seafront,” he said.

Hernández has reported that the works are expected to start in approximately one month, with the execution period being eight months from then on. "Previously we are going to carry out traffic diversion work in the affected area and we will speak with the people who live and have their businesses in these streets to accurately schedule the development of the works and thus harm the development of the activity as little as possible. economic”.
