The concessionaire of the municipal supply and purification service is studying carrying out in a closed space the process aimed at optimizing comprehensive water treatment to guarantee greater effectiveness in reducing sludge waste.
The Canaragua company, concessionaire of the Water Supply, Sanitation and Purification Service in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, has informed this Tuesday to the Department of Health of this municipality that it has proceeded to suspend the deodorization tests that it had been carrying out in the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of the Eastern System, which receives wastewater from the Las Palmas II Penitentiary Center and the towns of Aldea Blanca, Juan Grande and Castillo del Romeral.
The deodorization tests began approximately a month ago and were intended to eliminate odors caused by an innovative system for optimizing the comprehensive water treatment process to guarantee greater effectiveness in reducing sludge waste. These tests had given satisfactory results until the wind stopped, an essential condition for the proper functioning of the deodorization.
Canaragua has proceeded to immediately stop these tests to avoid the continuation of the strong and bad odors that the poor performance of the deodorization installation was causing, and which have until now been causing a lot of inconvenience to the Castillo del Romeral neighborhood, especially all in the afternoon and evening hours of this last weekend due to the lack of wind necessary for the weather and operating conditions of the system to be favorable.
Canaragua's intention is to suspend these tests while the research it is already carrying out allows it to find a new system to carry out the deodorization of the water from the treatment plant without producing annoying odors for the population of the area. The company is currently studying the delimitation of the process and its development in closed spaces, in order to better measure and control the impact of the air.
