Ten new firefighter positions for San Bartolomé de Tirajana

MASPALOMAS24H Wednesday, October 18, 2023

Improving the Fire Fighting and Rescue Service is an objective for the government of Marco Aurelio Pérez, which last Friday the 13th also called an internal promotion competition to provide 3 new corporals to the Fire Department

The government of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council continues with its firm objective of gradually providing new troops and resources to the municipality's security forces. With this purpose, it has proceeded to officially call this Wednesday free-shift examinations to provide the Fire Fighting and Rescue Service with 10 new agents.

The call processed by the Department of Human Resources headed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, has been made public through the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas (BOP) No. 126 of this Wednesday, October 18, and is intended to cover vacancies in the civil service of this city council that were included in the public employment offers for the years 2020, with four positions, and 2022, with the other six.

The Councilor for Security, José Carlos Álamo, highlights that this call for competitions for firefighters “is part of the work plan that the government group has drawn up to increase and improve public services in terms of Security. And along these lines it is worth adding the call for the internal promotion competition that took place last Friday the 13th, to also provide the Fire Extinguishing Service with 3 new corporals."

The deadline for submitting applications for the call for the 10 firefighter positions will be 20 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding holidays), counted from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official State Gazette (BOE). This process is about to be completed after its publication in the BOP.

Among the requirements demanded of applicants, the following stand out: they must be sixteen years old and not exceed the maximum age for forced retirement; have the academic qualification of Graduate in Compulsory Secondary Education or equivalent; possess driving licenses B and C and not suffer from illness or physical impediment that impairs the performance of firefighter duties, an issue that requires exceeding the medical scale established by the bases of the call. On the other hand, it is also required to have Spanish nationality or that of any member state of the European Union. In addition, spouses of Spaniards or any national of EU member states may also access the call, regardless of their nationality, as long as they are not separated by law.

The fee corresponding to the examination fees is 85 euros and must be paid once the provisional list of those admitted is published. The long-term unemployed will have a 50% discount upon presentation of a certification from the Canary Islands Employment Service. The call and the full text of the rules are published on the electronic notice board of this town hall (https://www.maspalomas.com)

It is worth remembering that the Department of Human Resources of this city council called last Wednesday, October 11, other free-shift competitions to provide the staff of career civil servants of its Local Police with 32 new agents. This call ends on November 10.
