The city council orders the removal of electric scooters without a license in Maspalomas

The Urban Planning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, led by Davinia Ramírez (CC), has requested the Local Police to proceed with the seizure and removal to the municipal warehouse of the scooters owned by the Spadimur entity and that are occupying the local public domain. This decision has been made after the company has exhausted the 48-hour period offered to proceed with the cessation of activity.

On June 30, 2023, the Urban Planning area became aware of the activity of renting skateboards without proper authorization and after initiating the appropriate police investigations, a file was initiated prohibiting carrying out a harmless activity without having the appropriate enabling title. On October 03, through the resolution of the area manager, Alejandro Marichal, the file is resolved and the responsible company is ordered to cease the rental activity of electric scooters in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, requesting it to proceed. , within a maximum period of 48 hours, to the removal of the scooters and indicating that failing that it would be transferred to the Local Police for confiscation. 

 

Given that the company has continued with this activity “ignoring” the deadline for the removal of the aforementioned vehicles, the Urban Planning Councilor points out, “the municipal services proceed to seize them, with the company being responsible for the expenses generated by the withdrawal and deposit”.   

 

The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, highlights that “this action is included within an inspection plan, which will be carried out in the coming months, regarding violations of activities, cleaning to stop illegal dumping, as well as squatting. "illegals in the public domain" the objective, he points out, is to put an end to those activities that like this one are carried out without the corresponding license and that have also caused numerous complaints and complaints from the residents of the municipality due to the danger they pose to traffic and passers-by. .
