The evening organized by the AF La Cucaña will also be entertained by the AF Aires del Norte Agaldar, with the dancers from Granero and Jarana, and the AF. Guayadeque with its own dance troupe

This Saturday, the Plaza de El Tablero hosts the celebration of the III Meeting of Dancers of the South organized by the La Cucaña Cultural Association and the Department of Culture of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council with the collaboration of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.

In this III Meeting of Dancers of the South, starting at 20:00 p.m., the participation of the Aires del Norte Folklore Group Agaldar (Gáldar) is planned, which assists with the Granero y Jarana dance group (Telde); the AF Guayadeque (Ingenio), accompanied by its own dance group, and the AF La Cucaña (El Tablero).

During the celebration of the Meeting, the traditional raffle will be held for typical clothing made and donated for this event by the president of La Cucaña, Inmaculada Ojeda Guerra (Tata). This year's prizes will be a guitar and two traditional women's costumes.

Aires del Norte emerged at the end of March 2018 in Gáldar with twenty-five members from various groups. It is directed by Jose Luis Quintana Suárez and wears traditional clothing from the 1975th and 60th centuries. The AF Guayadeque was created in 2002 within the APA of the CEIP Claudio de la Torre. Today it has more than XNUMX components. Two women direct their corps de tabla and their corps de ballet, Luz Mila Valerón Sánchez and Ana Isabel Cruz Sánchez, respectively. La Cucaña emerged around the year XNUMX from the union of a group of neighbors and friends from El Tablero who attended classes to learn to play a musical instrument with Professor Cristóbal Vega, from the Folklore Classroom of the Municipal Music School.

The first edition of the Southern Dancers Meeting was held on September 22, 2018 with the groups Amor Canario, from Santa Lucía, and the Municipal Folklore School of Santa Brígida.

The Covid pandemic and other vicissitudes forced the celebration of the second edition to be postponed, which was finally dated December 17, 2022. The Meeting, in which La Cucaña could not participate, was attended as guests by AF Cendro (Telde), the AF Umiaya (Maspalomas), and the AF Villa de Aguimes, each of them with their own dance groups.
