San Bartolomé de Tirajana has been chosen by the Italian diplomatic authorities in the Canary Islands, with the high sponsorship of the Abruzzo Region and in collaboration with the Development Agency, a special body of the Chamber of Commerce of Chieti Pescara, to host the eighth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, from November 13 to 19, 2023 in collaboration with Italian cuisine establishments in the south of the island.

In this way, Maspalomas will be a stage to promote the food and wine tradition and regional products of Abruzzo, bringing together the Italian restaurants in the agri-food sector present in the archipelago and the manufacturing companies of the same supply chain in the Abruzzo area. All membership applications received before 14.00pm on Tuesday 24 October will be considered. The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, which for the first time also takes place in the Canary Islands, is an event organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in all countries to promote knowledge and dissemination of Italian gastronomic and agri-food culture products, as well as the dissemination of a balanced diet and correct eating styles. It is estimated that approximately 30 active restaurateurs will participate in the towns of Tenerife (La Caleta, Santa Cruz, Adeje), Gran Canaria (Maspalomas), Fuerteventura (Corralejo, Puerto del Rosario) and Lanzarote (Arrecife). in their menus of typical Abruzzo cuisine in the form of recipes, sweet and savory dishes or drinks.

The initiative does not include membership costs and requires a commitment to provide, free of charge, a quantity of products necessary to serve a minimum of 100 places. In particular, this offer does not include the transport of sample goods which will have to be arranged independently. The supply of other goods will be the subject of direct commercial negotiation between the companies and the restaurateurs involved. During the registration phase, interested companies must indicate the type of products and the minimum quantity of merchandise and, depending on the availability collected, restaurateurs will express their preferences regarding the products they intend to use.

Abruzzo companies will have the right to decide how to distribute the free supply of established product between one or more restaurants, as well as to continue economic negotiations for the shipment of larger quantities of goods. Participation in the project does not guarantee certainty of coincidence between all participating businesses and restaurants and in the absence of comments any type of commitment expires and nothing can be claimed. Abruzzo companies that combine with one or more restaurants will be mentioned on menus and in communications disseminated through websites, social profiles and local media and will obtain contact details of all restaurants that have confirmed their participation in the project.
