Alexis Moreno: “It makes no sense to pay a fee for a document that is printed at home and that does not involve any expense to the Administration”

Alejandro Marichal: “During this legislature, various economic and fiscal modifications will be undertaken to reduce taxes and fees”

The Department of Economy and Finance of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, led by Alexis Moreno (CC), has initiated the modification of the Ordinance to eliminate the payment of two euros that residents of the municipality must make to obtain the residence certificate. This change seeks to differentiate between the certificates issued through the City Council's Electronic Headquarters, which will be free, and those issued at the Municipal Offices, which will maintain the rate of 2 euros.

The Ordinance to be modified was approved in 2012 and remains in force after nine years. The objective of the Department of Economy and Finance is to update it by being aware that "when a neighbor issues the residence certificate electronically, it does not entail any cost for the Administration, so it does not make sense for the taxpayer to pay for a service that is not offered," says the Councilor for Economy and Finance, who adds that after the report issued by the Department of New Technologies which confirms said "absence of cost for the Administration" the aforementioned Ordinance will be modified, differentiating between digital broadcast and in-person broadcast (in municipal offices).

For its processing, the Department will submit to the municipal plenary session to hold this Thursday, October 26, the initial approval of the modification, which must subsequently be submitted to public information for a period of 30 days where interested parties may present complaints and suggestions; After the resolution of possible claims, final approval will be carried out and the text will subsequently be published in the BOP.

Alexis Moreno points out that this modification "responds to a daily complaint from citizens, residents must pay for a copy that they printed at home or that they had to take to an establishment to be printed, which represented a double tax."

The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, points out that this modification is part of the Municipal Plan for Economic Impulse and Digital Transformation 'Impulsa SBT', which aims to commit to the Digitalization of the Administration, allowing for the expansion and streamlining of the procedures that can be make users from home as well as improve the control and internal management of the Administration; Furthermore, “during this legislature, various economic and fiscal modifications will be undertaken to reduce the payment of taxes and fees to residents of the municipality, as is the case of the residence certificate,” concludes Marichal.
