Since last Friday and until October 31, the Department of Culture has been developing a program of storytelling and reading workshops in all the cultural centers of the municipality.
The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council is already celebrating 'Library Day 2023' with a storytelling program and free workshops for children and young people in all the municipality's cultural centers.
This program began last Friday in the municipal library of the Pancho Guerra Cultural Center, in Tunte, encouraged by the Department of Culture directed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, and coordinated by councilor Esther Delgado.
From 17.00:19.00 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., participants are offered the story-telling 'Mystery in the Library', a workshop on making bookmarks with various materials, and the possibility of making a small personal essay about the ideal library, reading and the use of libraries that they make at an individual level.
The storyteller, intended to encourage reading, is a children's story about a monster who sneaks into a library to read and steal the written words from books, with which he tattoos his body until he runs out of free spaces and discovers that With the passage of time and with many readings he has become increasingly smarter and wiser. The dozen boys and girls who participated in Tunte in the development of this activity applauded the magic of the story, and this Monday the twenty participants who are scheduled to attend the library of the Carmelo Pérez Rodríguez Cultural Center, in El Tablero, will do so.
The same activity has been scheduled in the libraries of the cultural centers of Maspalomas (October 24), Juan Grande (October 25), Fataga (October 26), Castillo del Romeral (October 27), El Pajar (October 30) and Aldea Blanca (day 31).

The capacity to participate in this activity is limited to 20 people per center, hence prior telephone registration of those interested is required through extensions 1815 and 1818 of the telephone number 928.723.400 corresponding to the municipal switchboard.
The celebration of Library Day arose in 1997 at the initiative of the Spanish Association of Friends of Children's and Young People's Books, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in memory of the fire that destroyed the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( Sarajevo Library), in 1992.
