Seaside Los Jameos celebrated on October 13th the I Cancer Prevention Day. The group hotel Seaside Collection, located in Lanzarote, takes this important initiative to make visible the role of food in our health, also during our holidays. The pilot project has been supported by the prestigious oncologist Dr. Elisabeth Arrojo, director of Medical Institute of Advanced Oncology (INMOA) and creator of the National Cancer Prevention Center (CNPC).

Cancer prevention: diet
Cancer is increasing exponentially. Everyone knows some close cases, both in adults and in young people. According to Dr. Arrojo, “diet is the factor that has the most influence on the appearance of cancer.” Her intervention focused on the trend of cancer cases today, and also on the important role that diet plays. Regarding the position of the hotels during the holidays, Dr. Elisabeth Arrojo wanted to highlight the work of Seaside Los Jameos, which has its own garden and collaborates with local businessmen to guarantee the quality of their products.

"Cancers do not arise because we eat poorly for six months (or during our vacations), but because we have done it since childhood,” Dr. Arrojo clarified, revealing the responsibility that adults have: “the future of our children is in our hands.”
In fact, and recalling one of the most hopeful data from the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Elisabeth Arrojo wanted to emphasize that “40% of cancer cases can be prevented.”

The Canarian nutritionist Rocío González Cuadrado She was another of the speakers at the First Cancer Prevention Conference. “Food is one of the fundamental pillars of our health along with physical activity, rest and stress control,” the professional began by saying. However, diet is not the only factor that influences our health. Stress also has a very direct relationship with the appearance of cancer. Therefore, by modifying our subconscious, our behavior, Through appreciative language, we can activate positive thoughts, secreting serotonin and oxytocin in our brain,” the professional pointed out. And she added: “There are studies that show how Curiosity increases life expectancy by up to 5 years".
In this same line about the power that the mind has in our daily lives, the former motorcycle racer and creator of the “Conscious Incubator” method participated in the event. Jorge Díaz who emphasized how through meditation we are able to control our thoughts and emotions.
