Gran Canaria will host the third edition of the Turespaña Connectivity Conference, which will take place on the Island during the month of April 2024. This was announced by Miguel Sanz, general director of the public body responsible for promoting Spain as a tourist destination in the world, during the celebration these days of the Turespaña Convention that is taking place, in its third edition, in San Sebastián and which has the presence of a Gran Canaria Tourism delegation.
“It is a strategic opportunity for the tourist destination, having the possibility of receiving and hosting the vast majority of airlines and agencies in our home, with what this means for future agreements, negotiations and conditions that benefit Gran Canaria, in terms of connectivity, and its tourism sector,” said the Minister of Tourism of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo upon receiving the news.
"In this case, the ability we have to receive, show and sell our attributes to the main companies and airlines will be decisive, since we will have them for several days almost exclusively, with little presence of our competitors as usually happens in other congresses and conventions. in which tourism managers and the different administrations meet, with which we will be able to boast about the island and the destination as a whole and of course advance in fundamental connectivity, historic at the current moment, for the coming years," he explained. the counselor of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.
During these days, the city of San Sebastián receives about 500 tourism managers from the private sector and different public administrations as part of the annual Turespaña convention. Gran Canaria has moved a delegation with a technical profile, among which stand out: Pablo Llinares, managing director of Tourism of Gran Canaria; Pino León, head of the Tourism Promotion Section; Eduardo Reyes, Head of Tourism Analysis and Connectivity; Elena Miranda, head of Digital Communication for Tourism of Gran Canaria.
The Air Connectivity conferences, in the absence of confirming the specific dates in the month of April in which they will take place, are organized in collaboration between Turespaña and AENA and had their closest precedent in the second edition that was held in Seville on March 29, 2023. The first edition took place a year before in Valencia. Gran Canaria will host the third edition. This is a meeting focused on professionals from tourist destinations throughout Spain with airline companies, the participation of the Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Association of Airlines (ALA) in which both the perspectives of the sector and the process of creating new routes and opening new markets.
