A budget modification is approved to strengthen the Nordic customer and emerging markets
The governing council of Tourism of Gran Canaria has approved, in a meeting held this Wednesday, October 25, at the Triana headquarters of the Council Department, a modification in the budget item, through its own resources and based on available credit , worth 541.000 euros, which will be used for a series of promotional actions and to attract new customers and emerging markets during the 2022/2023 winter campaign.
The Minister of Tourism of Gran Canaria, Carlos Álamo, explained that this is a batch of our own remnants that aims to increase projects and strategies with a financial record that we want to carry out, such as enhancing our promotional presence in the Nordic market and that presents some difficulties due to the war in Ukraine, especially after the opening of the Air Baltic base on our island, the first of this company outside its geographical scope, and which represents the opening of ten new routes that we did not have in the winter past with one of our most important markets.”
Carlos Álamo pointed out that Gran Canaria Tourism has managed to execute “practically one hundred percent of our initial budget and that is why now we have to use our remainder, with the intention of covering some points that we consider essential for this end of the year and beginning of the year. 2024.”
The counselor pointed out that among the allocation of items is, as priority elements, addressing emerging markets "such as the Chinese, or rather the Chinese citizen who lives in Europe, in addition to advancing the possibility of attracting clients from the continent. The expansion of the Gran Canaria Tourism budget for the year 2023 with an initial value of 18,2 million euros “will allow us to provide a financial token to long-standing events such as the presence of the ARC Regatta in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, the Gran Canaria Maspalomas Marathon and other projects” concluded the counselor.
