The Department of Culture of San Bartolomé de Tirajana offers an official reception to the 47 dancers and the technical and choreographic team of the municipality who, having become a true revelation, reaped the majority of the prizes in the last World Dance Championship
This Thursday, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council offered an official reception to the sports and technical team of the Carmen Cabrera Dance School, which last July marked a historic milestone by representing this municipality in the finals of the last World Dance Championship. the Global Dance Open, held in Ávila.
In the competition, held from July 19 to 22 and involving more than 1.500 dancers from 35 countries, the 47 members of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana team received recognition as the best school in the competition. They achieved 13 first places, 6 seconds, 6 thirds, 4 fourths and 3 fifths. Among the successes achieved by Carmen Cabrera's pupils, the award for the best choreographic performance of the championship for the piece 'Strong' also stood out, and that two of her choreographies were selected to be part of the final gala.

The reception for the Dance School was officiated by the second deputy mayor Elena Álamo Vega at the Maspalomas Cultural Center. The event, which was attended by numerous relatives of the dancers, also included the Councilor for Sports, Ramón Suárez, and the eighth deputy mayor and councilor for Roads and Works, Araceli Armas Cruz.
On behalf of the entire Municipal Corporation, the second deputy mayor and Councilor for Culture and Education thanked the 47 dancers for “the great publicity and cultural display they carried out in the municipality” during the celebration of the championship, and congratulated them “for their vocation, dedication, discipline, perseverance and the hard effort they have been demonstrating in the practice of this demanding artistic and sporting modality.” Elena Álamo also formalized a “very heartfelt and special gratitude” to the technical and choreographic team of the Dance School formed by Carmen Cabrera herself, Iván Gangura and Émily Domínguez, who had the valuable contribution of Esteban Verona to prepare this international championship and also the previous qualifier held last March in Maspalomas.
Carmen Cabrera commented that the successes achieved at the World Championship held in Ávila “were a real surprise for everyone, because we were humble and acquired more experience, and we did not expect anything. We honestly thought we would come back with one hand behind us.” However, the good work done not only gave them the satisfaction of the first places achieved in the finals and in the general classification, but also two of the choreographies they presented were selected to represent the School in England, and several of them His students, such as Ginebra Marzzochi (award for best improvisation), Xenia Mendoza and Carlota Casado, received training scholarships for the School of Performing Arts in England and prestigious dance centers in New York and London.
