The agent is accused of holding meetings with members of a criminal organization that carried out assaults on high-net-worth homes.
The National Police has arrested a police inspector from the Maspalomas Police Station, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, for his alleged membership in a criminal organization, according to sources from the Superior Headquarters of the Canary Islands. During the operation, carried out last Thursday, three other people outside the police force were also arrested.
The inspector was stationed at the Maspalomas Police Station and, according to investigation sources, his participation in meetings with members of the criminal organization that were subsequently not communicated to his superiors and other activities related to said members of the organization have been proven.
The investigation has continued for more than a year and has also focused on the assets of those investigated. In the case of the detained agent, they verified that his assets were so much higher that he did not match the remuneration he received for his functions within the force.
The criminal organization was dedicated to raiding houses with high purchasing power in the municipality, mainly in the El Salobre area, looking for jewelry and valuable objects. The investigation has also linked its members to drug trafficking.
