The ingredients for success in the eighth Acebuches Trail: sport and brotherhood

The VIII Acebuches Trail was held this Sunday, October 29, with more than 600 runners between adult and children's distances. The test, held in territory shared by the municipalities of Mogán and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in the Barranco de Arguineguín, left Tatiana Cruz Ramírez as the winner of the women's 17-kilometer general race and Esteban García Rodríguez of the men's general race.

 

 

 

Known as 'The People's Race', it lived up to its nickname by bringing together residents of the Barranco de Arguineguín in preparations that had been taking place for weeks but that as the competition date approached they intensified to offer the participants a unique attention and experience. Thus, the day began very early with a breakfast offered by the Acebuches Trail Cultural and Sports Association, organizer of these races that once again had the collaboration of the municipalities of Mogán and San Bartolomé de Tirajana and private companies. 

 

The Cercados de Espino football field was the starting and finishing point of the distances. Thus, when 9:00 a.m. struck, it was the turn of the queen distance of 17 kilometers, with 1.000 meters of positive elevation gain.

 

In this modality, Esteban García Rodríguez rose to the top of the podium in the men's category with a time of 1 hour, 30 minutes and 54 seconds. He was followed in second place by David de Alonso Luis from the Trecus Athletics Club (01:33:30) and in third place by Néstor Oramas, Cabrera from the Carphial Teror Trail (01:36:59). For her part, the first runner to finish the route was Tatiana Cruz Ramírez from Nortrail in 1 hour, 53 minutes and 30 seconds. In second position was Candela Rivero Herrera from CD Vantrail (02:01:33) and in third place was Sita Ojeda Rosario from Chanchullo Trail (02:05:23). 

 

The distance of 7 kilometers, with a positive gradient of 500 meters, was conquered in the men's general classification by Jorge Álvarez Álamo of UAVA in 37 minutes and 59 seconds. The silver for this distance was Francisco Sebastián Rodríguez Suárez Ortega (00:38:02) from Club Deportivo Kabrankeros and the bronze for José Luis Velázquez Falcón (00:38:25). from Chanchullo Trail. In the women's race, first place was achieved by María Tatiana Mujica González from Carphial Teror Trail in 47 minutes and 9 seconds. Sandra Moreno Santiago (00:47:52), from CD BichilloRunner Canarias, took second position, and Nelly Alejandra Gaitán Alfonso (00:50:14), from DISA HPS Triatlon, third. 

 

 

 

 

 

In this sports festival, boys and girls were also protagonists. More than a hundred enjoyed children's tests on the soccer field itself in the presence and encouragement of the hundreds of people gathered there. Among these, the councilors of the Mogán City Council Luis Becerra, of Sports, as well as Ernesto Hernández, Rayco Guerra, Emily Quintana, Minerva Oliva, Neftalí Sabina and Grimanesa Artiles. 

 

After the trophy presentation, the party continued with a great lunch for runners and attendees and a performance by Kilian Viera and Paco Guedes.
