The Animal Welfare Councilor met this Tuesday with the volunteers to approve the name change of the old CETA
The Temporary Animal Stay Center (CETA) of Santa Lucía de Tirajana will be called the Animal Protection Center as of next November 2, as was agreed this Wednesday in a meeting held at the municipal offices between the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Mario Bordón and the CETA volunteers.
The name change is made in compliance with the new state Animal Welfare Law. At the meeting, other issues were also discussed such as the extension of the hours of the Animal Protection Center, the performance of services with the Commonwealth of the Southeast and the participation of Santa Lucía de Tirajana in the Animundo fair on November 18.
The Councilor for Animal Welfare, Mario Bordón, stated that “we are once again having a meeting with volunteers, who for us play a fundamental role in our animal welfare policies.” The mayor added that "with the extension of hours and the opening of the Animal Protection Center on Sundays we want to make it easier for volunteers to take advantage of the entire weekend to walk their pets."
The new winter hours of the Santa Lucía de Tirajana Animal Protection Center will be: Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 13 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays from 16 p.m. to 18 p.m. It will only close on Mondays. During the meeting, they also discussed the participation of Santa Lucía de Tirajana in the Animundo fair organized by the Gran Canaria council on November 18, where the City Council will have an information stand and two pets will be taken for the adoption catwalk. Councilor Mario Bordón also reported that some services of the Animal Protection Center will be carried out jointly with the municipalities of Agüimes and Ingenio, which are part of the Southeast Commonwealth.
