The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana is deploying a prevention and awareness campaign against cyber-bullying in the municipality's educational centers with the aim of raising awareness among students at critical ages about the danger and responsible uses of smartphones and networks. social.
The initiative promoted by the Department of Education directed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, and coordinated by the councilor Esther Delgado Sánchez, accentuates the objective of cultivating empathy among young students to improve school and neighborhood coexistence.
The cyber-coexistence project is being applied with notable success in institutes. It has been developed since last October 3 by the Secondary and Baccalaureate teacher, also a Law graduate and an expert in data protection and cybersecurity, Alba Rodríguez Boelkelman.
In the workshops and work dynamics, where reflection and debate take place, in this first term, especially 1st year ESO students are being involved, because it is a key stage of cycle change in which future ones are also formed. dynamics of coexistence in the classrooms, but above all because it is in the school population between 13 and 14 years old where cases of cyber-bullying are detected the most.
For now, just over 350 students from the Amurga, Faro, Támara and El Tablero-Aguañac schools, and the CEOs Pancho Guerra (Castillo del Romeral) are benefiting from this first campaign for cyber-coexistence and against cyber-bullying. and Tunte. The students are included in 21 work groups to which two workshops lasting 55 minutes each are taught during school hours.
