Yilenia Vega, Councilor for Tourism: “This promotional action will impact the end customer in a more seductive, more emotional way”

Marco Aurelio Pérez: “We make a mark in the promotion of our tourist destination with this innovative, unique and enormously attractive action”

Luis Padrón, president of the Chamber of Commerce: “This agreement represents a milestone in the field of public-private collaboration for the development of actions of international scope and for the benefit of the destination”

London citizens will be able to discover the Dunes of Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés through virtual reality and 3D technology, through an immersive journey that will allow them to go from the rainy, bustling and dark Carnaby Street, to the dune landscape, the sun and the crystal clear and blue waters of Maspalomas Costa Canaria. This will be the action to promote the tourist destination par excellence of Gran Canaria during the celebration of the World Travel Market, which will be held from November 6 to 8 in London.

The Department of Tourism of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria will launch this promotional action after the agreement signed today, Friday, November 03, at the Mirador de las Dunas in Maspalomas. With this action, both Administrations want to opt for a “new, unique and enormously attractive form that aims to make an imprint in the promotion of our tourist destination,” as highlighted by the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez.

The Councilor for Tourism, Yilenia Pérez, pointed out that the objective is to “impact the end customer by showing the destination in a more seductive, more emotional way.” In this regard, Eduardo Williams, from the company The Wise Dreams, indicated that what is sought is to “offer new formulas to communicate and seduce tourists through 3D technology and a 360-degree virtual route that allows ganmification, interaction and creation. desire through experimentation.” The 3D experience that the user will carry out lasts two minutes and is divided into three phases; moment Empathy: the user sees himself walking along Carnaby Street, a street that every Londoner knows with its bustle, dark, rainy... so that he can assimilate the reality that is transmitted to him through the 3D glasses. On the same street there is a Maspalomas travel agency and through a screen you enter Maspalomas, beginning the moment of the sensations, the water, the Maspalomas Lighthouse, walking through the Dunes... This will recreate the experience of being on the beach. Finally, continued Williams, the user will find a drone on their tour from which they will take off, allowing them to fly and see the Dunes from the air; with it you reach the phase of Memory, “in which an impression full of sensations is created so that when you see the M+ in Maspalomas Costa Canaria again, your memory leads you to choose us as your next vacation destination.”

During the World Travel Market celebration, the Brent Cross shopping center will be the setting where the promotion window will open through the sensations of Maspalomas Costa Canaria, an action that will also be transferred to the fairs in Madrid and Berlin.

Agreement San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria

The Mirador de las Dunas de Maspalomas also served as a framework for the signing of the agreement signed between the Illustrious City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria to develop the municipality's promotional action for, as explained by the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana “to serve as a point of attraction for tourists coming from this market to our destination.”

The promotional action presented arises from the collaboration agreement signed between the Illustrious City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, an agreement that in the words of the president of the entity, Luis Padrón, “represents a milestone in the field of public-private collaboration for the development of actions of international scope, for the benefit of the destination and the tourism sector of the municipality and the Island.” In this sense, he noted: “For the Chamber, this collaboration with the municipality with the greatest tourist weight on the Island and a pole of attraction for tourists from our main source markets is key, also highlighting that this first promotional action is carried out in one of the most important tourism fairs in the industry such as the World Travel Market in London.” Likewise, "the Chamber is demonstrating that it is a collaborator capable of accompanying administrations in the fulfillment of their objectives, and in this case, for a high-level tourism strategy, with which it makes its own resources available such as the highly specialized team in tourism,” he stated.

For his part, the vice president of the Chamber, Santiago de Armas, complemented the interventions by pointing out that the entity “is working intensely on tourism promotion. With this project, we offer an important and pioneering resource with the inclusion of new technologies in the tourism sector, which without a doubt represents a turning point in the way of promoting Maspalomas Costa Canaria."
