The event occurred due to the accumulation of tires in an abandoned warehouse in Los Corralillos
A fire in an abandoned warehouse kept the residents of the Los Corralillos area, in Agüimes, in suspense. The flames started shortly after 22:00 p.m. on Thursday night and, after being notified, members of the Arinaga Park Fire Department got underway around 22:30 p.m. and moved to the scene.
The fire occurred in an abandoned warehouse in the municipality that was open, so there was no type of security to prevent the transit of vehicles and people. The cause of the fire is unknown, which began in holes of approximately five meters where tires were accumulated, which caused dense black smoke and an unpleasant burning smell that could still be perceived today, Friday, in the area of the fire.
The work of the fire brigade lasted for just over an hour, leaving the fire completely extinguished before 00:00 and carrying out some cooling work to avoid reactivations during the early hours of the morning. During the extinguishing efforts, just over 7.000 liters of water were used.
