Tavi García's black comedy, turned into an ironic look at global socio-political reality, is performed this Friday at the Maspalomas Cultural Center
The Department of Culture of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has scheduled the theatrical performance of 'Ratas, a very unhygienic comedy' for this Friday. It will be at the Maspalomas Cultural Center at 20.00:XNUMX p.m. Tickets have a reduced price of two euros and can be reserved at tureservavaonline.es.
The work is by La Inesperada Producciones and is recommended for people over 16 years of age, as its purpose is to “shake consciences in a very unhygienic way.” Its screenwriter and director, Tavi García, taking as a reference the novel 'Abellion on the Farm' (G. Orwell, 1945), has put together a show with a socio-political theme set in the underground world of rats, in which he very closely addresses irony and black humor social and gender inequalities, climate change, animal abuse, abuse of power, facke news and manipulation of the masses.
The interpretation of 'Ratas' is performed by Tavi García himself, Iris Díaz, Mingo Ávila, Guacimara Correa, Jénifer Artiles and Jacobo Santiago. But in “the sewer” of this production there are also Marta Díaz (Regiduría), Tamito Rodríguez (Hairdressing and hair styling), Carlos Santos (Scenography), Nauzet Afonso (Costumes), Yurena del Cano (Characterization and makeup), Juani González (Lighting and design), Gabriel Melgarejo (Sound), Carmela Rodríguez (Production Design) and Mingo Ruano (Assistant Director and Choreography).
This black comedy premiered on September 10, 2022 at the Temudas Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance, in the capital of Gran Canaria. It is a show that is designed so that every two theatrical seasons the social and political conflicts that are addressed in the plot of its staging are reviewed, since its purpose is to offer the public a refined analysis of the problems of today's society from the smarter sarcasm.
