Manuel Miranda held a meeting with the new CEO of the company to outline the strategic lines of this new stage
The Minister of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Miranda, held a meeting with the new CEO of Territorial and Environmental Management and Planning SA (Gesplan), Miguel Ángel Pérez, to whom he informed that “the public entity "It must be the best ally of councils and city councils to unblock planning and advance the cohesion of the territory."
The political leaders took advantage of the meeting to “draw up the strategic lines, mark the roadmap and coordinate communication, management and execution actions in this new stage that we began with great desire and expectations,” said Pérez.
The company attached to the Department of Territorial Policy will be fundamental for the development of territorial planning and will advance territorial cohesion with the help of the councils and town councils of the Canary Islands.
Gesplan is a public company specialized in management, urbanization, planning and environmental activities, focused on three fundamental axes: Infrastructure and Climate Change, Territorial Planning and Ecological Transition and Research and Development and Innovation (R+D+I).
Over recent years, Gesplan has established itself as an important executing arm of environmental and planning policies, not only for the Government of the Canary Islands and the different ministries that comprise it, but also for the local corporations of the Archipelago. In fact, at this time, the company is accredited as the personified media of the seven councils and more than thirty town councils throughout the Archipelago.
“If there is one thing that we are clear about, it is that planning should not be an obstacle to the cohesion of the territory, economic revitalization and employment; It has to be the driving force of sustainable development and the protection of the territory in the Archipelago,” explained Manuel Miranda.
The new CEO of Gesplan - who took office last Friday -, Miguel Ángel Pérez, is a lawyer specializing in urban planning and faces his position with the experience of having assumed the vice presidency of the public company in the past.
Strategic Planning Instrument
The Government of the Canary Islands approved just two weeks ago in the Government Council the Gesplan Strategic Planning Instrument (IPE) to anticipate needs and proactively face the large volume of challenges related to territorial planning over the next two years.
This IPE is a tool that will mark the roadmap of society, since it will allow a firm commitment to be made for the hiring of indefinite and permanent permanent workers who are essential to efficiently carry out the work entrusted by the different administrations.
The trends in the territorial planning sector confirm that the economy grows and evolves, and with it the companies in this field; That is why the current hiring proposal that Gesplan focuses on seeks greater employment stability and the transformation of the labor market.
