Southeast will be open until Sunday
Gastronomic tastings, livestock exhibitions and musical performances,
among other activities, they complete the program this weekend
The Southeast Fair has started today, in the Cruce de Arinaga, its 20th edition. This exhibition of agri-food and craft products continues to consolidate, not only in the Southeast region, but also in the rest of the island, as declared by the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, during the inauguration.
“We have managed to make the fair an enormously attractive space for artisans, farmers and ranchers, but also for people from the region and from different places on the island who come here and who share the products of the land and that vision of "bet on the primary sector as strategic for Gran Canaria," said the president, who highlighted "the permanent effort of the Commonwealth to always keep these key and strategic sectors in mind for the future of our land."

On this day, “important for the region, but also for the three municipalities,” the mayor of Agüimes and president of the Commonwealth of the Southeast, Óscar Hernández, highlighted the “multiplier effect that unity has when it is done with absolutely clear objectives and conscience.” and with the desire to resolve the problem and the general interest above other issues.”
The mayor of Santa Lucía, Francisco García, spoke along the same lines, valuing “the coordinated work of the three municipalities” and assured that the Fair meets “the objective of facilitating the direct sale of artisanal and agri-food products,” in addition to propose activities “that value our traditions”
For his part, the mayor of Ingenio, José López, took advantage of the opening ceremony to make “a public recognition of those who at the time made it possible for us to be here today,” as a “commitment to a unique model that benefits the neighbors.” ”
The Southeast Fair is being held this weekend at Cruce de Arinaga. Until Sunday, Ansite Avenue and its surrounding areas become the nerve center of this showcase of Southeastern products. Like every year, the Southeast Commonwealth will also present its awards to the artisans of the region, to value their work and the legacy they leave for future generations.
