Thousands of people have come today to Avenida de Ansite del Cruce de Arinaga to enjoy, once again, the Southeast Fair. The event, which celebrates its 20th edition this year, has once again welcomed a family audience willing to learn up close and purchase the agri-food product grown and produced in the Southeast Region.

 

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

 

 

There has also been no lack of space to highlight the traditions of the area, not only through the craft stalls, but also the traditional games, the folklore groups that tour the Fair throughout the weekend, the livestock exhibition which is enjoyed especially by boys and girls, and gastronomy, which, once again, plays an important role in this meeting.

As a novelty this year, the mayors of Agüimes, Ingenio and Santa Lucía, were fully involved in the activity called 'Cooking the Southeast', helping to cook some of the typical dishes of Canarian cuisine. Thus, the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández, helped prepare pork carajacas, while the tirajanero, Francisco García, dared to make a homemade chocolate mousse, and the mayor of Ingenio, José López, took the opportunity to talk about the bread soup typical of his municipality while helping with the cooking.

 

In addition to the gastronomic tastings and culinary demonstrations, the protagonists of the Southeast Fair continue to be local products, both the fresh products grown in this area of ​​the island, as well as those made in the region. And also the crafts that are passed from generation to generation, such as openwork, cutlery making or basket weaving..., as well as the most modern, which uses recycled material, for example.

This twentieth edition ends on Sunday with some of the highlights of the Fair: the delivery of recognitions that value the work and legacy left by the artisans and producers of the region, and the concerts by Yeray Rodríguez and Los Gofiones, which They always attract thousands of people.

 

With the Kilombo Improvised concert this edition of the Fair will come to an end, which this year regains its annual frequency and will return next year to the open commercial area of ​​Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
