The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, was in Las Palmas this Monday, to discuss institutional issues and reinforce the public agenda with some messages to sailors. In an interview in El Espejo Canario he stated that he is not going to burn any more time with the Loro Parque Tenerife project to launch Siam Park in the economic capital of the Canary Islands.
Pérez explained that the Tenerife project has a way out and it is in the hands of Loro Parque to execute it or not given that it has to comply with the standard. He added that "we have to make an effort to consolidate the good tourism data given the possibility that conditions change" and here he sent a message to sailors: "the money to rehabilitate shopping centers has to come from the private sector" and that "we have to regulate vacation rentals because it is part of the tourism sector.
He explained that the norm is complied with in the municipality and that proof of this is that Lopesan Hotels is finalizing an investment plan that technicians are reviewing to verify whether or not it complies with the norm. He highlighted that for the summer of 2024 there are high occupancy forecasts in the south of Gran Canaria but that this is a product not only of promotion but of being a refuge destination.
