For the first time a drive-in cinema to give visibility to the LGTBI reality in Playa del Inglés

 

The Minister of Equality and Diversity of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Isabel Mena, presented today the LGTBI Drive-In Cinema, “this is the first time that the Cabildo organizes an event of this nature, a drive-in cinema has rarely been held in Gran Canaria , that is, an open-air cinema in which attendees will be able to enjoy from their own vehicle 10 short films that address LGTBI realities. The celebration of this event is a strategy for making them visible, since we are a diverse island, an island open that defends the rights of people, human rights,” Minister Mena highlighted during the presentation event that took place this Wednesday at the Pérez Galdós House-Museum. Isabel Mena has been accompanied by the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez, who stated that “his municipality is proud to host this activity that means diversity, means the integration of all people and that is why it has all of our support by providing a privileged enclave near the beach.”

 

The presenter of the event, Adolfo Martín, explained the theme of the ten short films that will be screened at the LGTBI Drive-In Cinema. Martín has detailed some topics that will be addressed such as “the complex of transsexual people and homosexual men and women, the problems of the LGTBI community when they grow older or the reason why the masculinity of homosexual men is questioned.” .

 

The LGTBI Drive-In will be held in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana on November 17, 2023, from 20:00 p.m. to 22:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Annex 2 Shopping Center in Playa del Inglés, with capacity for one hundred vehicles.

 

The transmission of the cinema and the show will be done through “radio”, with a predetermined frequency line in Spanish with English subtitles.

 

 

In addition to the screening, there will be a 20-minute surprise show at halftime. 

Entry will be “free” until capacity is reached for people traveling in vehicles.
