The paving of the road from Arguineguín to Tauro begins this Sunday

The insular Department of Public Works, headed by Augusto Hidalgo, will enable several detours during the ten days that the work will last, which will be carried out at night.

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, headed by the insular vice president Augusto Hidalgo, begins on the night of next Sunday, November 19, the paving of several sections of the GC-500 between Arguineguín and Tauro (Mogán) to renew the surface of nearly five kilometers of track that was already beginning to show wear and tear due to the passage of time. This action is part of the contract for the rehabilitation of pavements of the island road network corresponding to the South Lot and has an estimated cost of 450.000 euros.

 

The work, which involves cutting the GC-500 road in sections, will begin this Sunday and will continue for 10 days, always at night and avoiding weekend nights. The paving tasks have been divided into sections and will always take place between 22:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday. While the work is being carried out, several detours will be enabled and will be duly signposted.

This Sunday night, work begins on the section between Arguineguín and Patalavaca. There will be a total of 800 meters that will be resurfaced between the Cola de la Ballena roundabout and the entrance to Patalavaca. It is planned that traffic will be diverted through Puerto Rico while the paving work on this stretch lasts.

 

The second area of ​​action will be between Patalavaca and the roundabout leading to Anfi del Mar, a total of 760 meters of road that will also force cars to be diverted through Puerto Rico.

 

The next section is the longest of all and runs between Anfi and the Puerto Rico roundabout, with 2.340 meters and detours that will be enabled through Tauro.

 

The last section, which is not a continuation of the previous ones, will be the road that connects Amadores Beach with the Tauro roundabout, with a route of 930 meters and detours through the GC-1.

 

In total, 4.830 meters of the GC-500 road will be resurfaced, an essential road for the municipality of Mogán since it connects its main tourist towns with the rest of the municipality and with the main roads of the island and which has a high density. of use. The Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, Architecture and Housing calls on drivers who frequent the area to take extreme precautions and follow the instructions of the construction staff at all times to use the detours quickly and efficiently.

 

The service contract for the rehabilitation of pavements of the Gran Canaria road network of Lot 1 – South Zone, has a total budget of 8.522.787 euros.
