'Pueblos Creativos' programs a November of music, theater, literature and video games

Newsroom Saturday, November 06, 2021

The activities will be in Artenara, La Aldea de San Nicolás and Villa de Moya and begin this weekend with classical music and a children's show

The Creative Towns project, promoted by the Vice-Ministry of Culture and Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands through the Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development (ICDC), has scheduled multiple and varied actions for November. The activities will extend throughout the month in the three municipalities that participate in this pilot program: Artenara, La Aldea de San Nicolás and La Villa de Moya). The program includes children's shows, debates, several concerts, new Reading Club sessions and a video game creation workshop.

In the municipality of Artenara, this Saturday, November 6, the talk-concert 'Miradas de Mujer' will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the Cultural Center, and the Ainur choir performance will be held at 18:30 p.m. in the Church of San Matías. The talk will be given by the composer Laura Vega and the music by the soprano Estefanía Perdomo and the pianist Julia Cabrera. For their part, Moya and Artenara will host the children's show 'Mi Camino', by Badabadum. It will be on Saturday at 17.00:12.00 p.m. and Sunday at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m., respectively. It will take place at the House of Culture of both municipalities.

During the week of November 8 to 13, a Video Game Creation workshop will be held in La Aldea de San Nicolás (at the IES) and Villa de Moya (in the old Parque Pico Lomito tourism office). The training, aimed at all types of audiences, will be given by the Canarian developer PlayMedusa and will focus on the new trends in the medium, which include online video games or those on mobile phones. Registration can be done through the Pueblos Creativos website for free.

On the other hand, the action 'On Stage!' will take place in Villa de Moya, in which residents of the municipality can participate in shows with professional artists in rehearsals that will take place on November 8, 9 and 10. On this occasion, they will be accompanied by the Anartistas company, which will perform its 'Cabaret Varieté' on the 13th at 19:00 p.m. at the House of Culture of Villa de Moya. This same proposal will be repeated at the Municipal Cultural Center of La Aldea de San Nicolás on the 28th at 12:00 p.m. and the rehearsals will be from the 22nd to the 24th, both included.

In the musical section, on Sunday the 14th at 12:00 there will be a concert at the Moya House of Culture by the Travesía saxophone quartet, which will pay tribute to jazz and the figure of Pedro Iturralde. At the same time, the Municipal Cultural Center of Artenara will host the last session of the Badabadum show 'My Way'.

In parallel to all these specific activities, the new Reading Club sessions stand out, which will continue to take place throughout the month. More specifically, on Tuesday the 16th a round table on oral literature will be held in Moya with Casandra González, Yeray Rodríguez and Jose María Dávila, and on Monday the 29th a meeting with the writer Carmen Gómez Aristu, both sessions at 18:00 p.m.

Beyond these specific actions, dissemination activities will be carried out in educational centers in order to bring culture closer to neighbors and enable them to participate in it.

All of this programming is framed within the main lines of Pueblos Creativos, a project that seeks to bring culture closer to rural municipalities. Some of the most notable, and the most abundant during November, are the training Capsules and EDAC (Spaces for Open Debate on Culture), which are workshops and talks, respectively, with a training and relaxed nature, or NexoCultura, which encompasses all those cultural activities that seek the attention of new audiences.

Tickets for the activities can be obtained through the Creative Towns website.
