At around 13:1 p.m., the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-2-XNUMX of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert informing them that they had pulled a bather out of the sea in Playa del Cochino and were giving him the first attendance.
A person who identified himself as an off-duty doctor confirmed that the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest and performed resuscitation maneuvers. The SUC and Beach Service personnel assessed and assisted the affected person, verifying that he had recovered his pulse.
The 65-year-old man in critical condition was recovered from cardiorespiratory arrest after being rescued from the sea, and once stabilized, he was transferred by SUC medical helicopter that landed on the same beach, to the helisurface of the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources. The Firefighters from the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Fire Fighting and Rescue Service collaborated with the health personnel and ensured the landing and takeoff maneuvers of the helicopter on the beach. The Local Police of the municipality intervened in the emergency device deployed on the beach and carried out the corresponding procedures.
