I Business/Student Meeting of the IES Faro de Maspalomas

 

This Wednesday, the Maspalomas Cultural Center hosted the celebration of the XNUMXst Business/Student Meeting organized by the Entrepreneurship Classroom of the IES Faro de Maspalomas, which this year celebrates its XNUMXth anniversary.

 

The event, converted into “an opportunity to establish alliances between the IES Faro community and the local business community”, was attended by students and teachers from the four professional families (Agrarian, Hospitality and Tourism, Administration and Finance and Personal Image) that The educational center offers, in addition to the students of the first year of all cycles and also representatives of the twenty companies of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Lucía and Mogán dedicated directly or indirectly to the tourism industry, with which the Institute has formalized a collaboration agreement. The students and teachers of the Health training cycle taught at the IES Támara also attended as guests.

 

The Meeting was held as an informative and training day with three presentations and a round table. The director of the Institute, Daniel Escobar Domínguez, spoke at its opening; Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez and also the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, responsible for the municipal area of ​​Culture, Education and Local Development.

 

 

 

Escobar Domínguez highlighted the Meeting as “the purpose of building bridges between the educational and business worlds”, and pointed out that the union between the dual training of FP and the entrepreneurial spirit can transform the individual opportunities of students and also the economic panorama of This region. “In a constantly changing world, where innovation and adaptability are key, education cannot be limited to classrooms,” he said, recognizing and thanking “the commitment and contribution of companies to the development of the practical skills of our students.” .

 

The mayor insisted to the students that “the path of life is a company in which decisions are constantly made,” and urged the students to get the most out of this meeting and its range of business proposals. “It will help them make decisions regarding the path they have to travel as people. “Squeeze the speakers, because they have come to help you,” he said.”

 

Elena Álamo also offered the students a message of guidance. “You are on the path of training and learning, so don't be afraid of failure and work hard to achieve your goals,” she told them. The Councilor for Local Development thanked the local business community and the educational community of IES Faro “for promoting this type of opportunity meetings, which are fundamental for the development of our municipality, the educational community and our young people,” she stated.

 

Attitude and responsibility

 

The first presentation was given by Carmen Cabello de la Rosa, responsible for the Coordination of the Entrepreneurship Network of the General Directorate of Vocational Training and Special Regime Education of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands. “Entrepreneurship is attitude. Companies demand attitude. Entrepreneurial culture is a social responsibility of the educational system, the administration and companies,” she noted. In that sense, she also highlighted that “speaking and acting in terms of entrepreneurship must be done every day, in all facets of our lives, constantly, because it is a vital competence. Because without entrepreneurship we would still be in caves and without fire. Entrepreneurship is inherent to human nature, because entrepreneurship means progress. We do it for survival but also to improve ourselves. The European Union already highlights entrepreneurship as one of the eight key and transversal competencies of continuous training in any area and facet of life,” she stated. She also highlighted that "for the Canary Islands, entrepreneurship is strategic, and for that there are economic items that cascade from the European Union to the Ministry of Education."

 

The second presentation was given by representatives of four local companies, specifically Ruth Mendoza Díaz, manager of Link Soluciones Informáticas; Angélica León, expert in integral beauty and creator of the Atractivízate method; Miguel Osterhues, coordinator of scholarships and new talents at Satocan, and Tamara Báez, from the Gloria Thalasso & Hotel Group. The third presentation was dedicated to the recipe for successful entrepreneurship and was offered by the teacher and researcher María del Pino Medina Brito, representing the Entrepreneurship and SMEs Observatory of the Canary Islands.

 

Representatives of the twenty companies that have established a professional collaboration agreement with the IES Faro took part in the final round table, responding to the students' concerns.
