Six major construction licenses approved with an investment of 74 million euros in SBT

The Urban Planning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council plans to grant six Major Works licenses after their approval at the Government Board that will be held tomorrow, Thursday, November 30. The granting of these licenses will involve a total investment of more than 74 million euros in execution of work, increasing the income of the municipal coffers in taxes by almost 2,4 million euros. 

 

With the approval of these licenses, the construction of a new hotel in the Meloneras area will be carried out, the rehabilitation and renovation of the Beach Club San Agustín Hotel, the renovation of the Los Dolores apartments, the construction of a Marine Aquaculture plant and several homes in Monte León and El Salobre. The first deputy mayor of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana city council, Alejandro Marichal, has highlighted the “excellent work carried out by the technical and legal team of the Urban Planning Department” and highlights that this will be the dynamic with which this Department works, "reaching out to the investor since with this, we not only generate income for the municipal coffers, but we also manage to generate employment and modernize our tourist destination."  

 

It is worth highlighting the investment that the promoter Lopesan Touristiks will make, who receives the first license granted since 2020, for the construction of a new hotel establishment in the Meloneras 2A sector, with which the construction of the first five-star Congress Hotel in Gran Canaria, which will also bring together leisure and commercial offerings. 

 

After the promoter requests the certificate, it is verified that the Minor Modification of the General Planning Plan of San Bartolomé de Tirajana in the area of ​​Meloneras 2A "does not pose any urban planning inconvenience in the granting of the construction license", the company would receive light green to begin the works on plot 28 of Meloneras, specifically, the one located at the back of the ExpoMeloneras Convention Center. For its construction, the developer Lopesan Touristisk will make an investment of 61 million euros and it will have an accommodation capacity of 1200 beds, with a total of 533 rooms. 

 

In this way, the developer will be able to build on land classified as urban, on a 48.276,26m2 plot, on which a conference, commercial, leisure and office hotel will be built, allocating 14.379,94 m2 to a tourist-complementary residence; and 14.379,94 m2 to Commercial and Administrative. It will also have a height of 7 floors in the hotel and 3 floors in the rest. It will also have the construction of parking basements with capacity for 508 spaces, with another 10 parking spaces located above ground, at the level of the access area to the Hotel building. 

 

The Councilor for Urban Planning, Davinia Ramírez (CC), highlights that with these licenses “the blockade stage that prevented the growth and development of our tourist destination ends. “We take the first step in expanding and improving our accommodation offer.” The councilor points out the “satisfactory news that investors once again trust this city council, betting on the construction as well as the rehabilitation and reform of the accommodation establishments,” concludes Ramírez.
