The program developed with the collaboration of several councils aims to bring Christmas to adults and children in all neighborhoods.
Workshops, concerts, galas and lots of magic make up the program of activities organized by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council to celebrate Christmas 2023 in all the neighborhoods of the municipality. The complete program was presented by the mayor of the Tirajan municipality, Marco Aurelio Pérez; the Councilor for Culture, Elena Álamo; and the Councilor for Tourism, as well as Celebrations and Events, Yilenia Vega. As Pérez highlighted, the intention with the program of events prepared by all the councils involved in the organization is to “bring Christmas to adults, children and of course to all neighborhoods.”
The Christmas program of San Bartolomé de Tirajana includes this year the celebration of 'Maspalomas KidsMas', an event, as pointed out by the Councilor for Celebrations and Events, Yilenia Vega, “designed for the little ones in the house who normally do not reach the chimes. midnight.” For them, a very special morning has been organized that will take place on December 31 in the sand of Playa del Inglés, where there will be children's bell ringing, a mat area and musical performances from 10:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m.
It is also this council that is organizing the New Year's Eve Party at the Castillo del Romeral, Tunte and San Fernando de Maspalomas, where galas will be held "with a very important line-up that we will announce shortly." The other big day dedicated to minors will be the Parade of Their Majesties the Three Wise Men and the Reception Gala. The tour will begin at 18:00 p.m. from the Víctor Miranda Municipal Pavilion and will arrive at 20:00 p.m. at the Plaza de San Fernando where a “very special gala for the little ones” will be held.
In addition to the central events of the Christmas celebration, throughout the month of December and until January 5, the Department of Culture has organized different events and activities that will take place in the different neighborhoods of the municipality. The Councilor for Culture, Elena Álamo, highlighted the concert of the 'Family Soul Band' that will be held on Friday, December 08 on the esplanade of the Maspalomas Lighthouse with free admission, “an emblematic place and one that we are convinced will have a great reception by residents, tourists and visitors.” On the 11th, the Nacho Maya Nativity Scene (neighbor of the municipality) is inaugurated and will remain on display in the Casa Condal de Maspalomas until the night of January 05th.
On December 15, at 20:30 p.m., the Christmas lighting and revitalization of the Avenida de Gáldar Open Commercial Zone will take place. The day will begin at 16:00 p.m. with bouncy castles, workshops, DJs... and will invite residents to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere with the Christmas concert offered by the Umiaya Folkloric Association at 19:30 p.m., to later enjoy the Trova performance.
From December 20 to 23, the Parque Urbano del Sur will host the Christmas House, activities, workshops, acrobatics, clowns, as well as various performances. On the 28th at the Maspalomas Cultural Center the “already traditional and supportive” Lyric Gala with Judith Pessoa will be held, an event that this year celebrates its ninth edition. The next day, El Tablero recovers its 'Pre-bells' with the performances of Salvapantallas and Ochentour, where party favors will be offered starting at 21:00 p.m., and throughout the day different associations and groups will carry out the collection of toys and Solidarity food throughout the entire town.
This Christmas will feature the municipality's Music and Theater Schools, who will perform on December 13 at the Maspalomas Cultural Center. In addition, the different libraries and houses of Culture in the neighborhoods of the municipalities will host Christmas storytellers, children's writing workshops, a reading club, a performance by Animal Kingdom or the Tribute to Coco. Also highlight the different activities and meetings organized by the Department of Sports that has scheduled walks, the Gran Canaria Bike Week, the 5th Edition of the Gran Canaria Air Battle, Kite & Wing Foil Festival, a free introductory course to Kitesurfing and Wing Foil, among other acts.
