The Councilor for Social Services, Dimas Sarmiento, reaches out to families to “work together for Inclusion and ensure a better future”

With the fundamental objective of paying tribute to individuals and associations that work every day to achieve real inclusion of people with functional diversity, the Department of Social Services of the Illustrious City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana held the IV Inclusion Gala.

At this event, the Aprosu entity received an award from the first deputy mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marichal, for its contribution to improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. This non-profit Association, founded in 1962, was the first established in the Canary Islands and has been empowering people for a future without limits for more than 60 years, as indicated by its motto.

In the category of individuals involved in Inclusion, Naomi Herrera received the award, from the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez. The resident of Castillo del Romeral with visual disabilities was distinguished for her perseverance and involvement in the community work carried out for the beautification of the Castillo del Romeral Maritime Park.

The IV Inclusion Gala is part of the events held on the occasion of International Disability Day by the Department of Social Services, an area headed by Councilor Dimas Sarmiento who in his welcoming words highlighted and praised the work carried out by the families who “have fought for inclusion,” a work they began years ago ensuring that the municipality had specialized care centers, a fight, Sarmiento highlighted, “that must continue to ensure a better future. I am sure that we are going to achieve it because there is a family, there is a team and there is the capacity to achieve it,” he concluded.

The gala was presented by Elvira Torres with the collaboration of Rafaellilo Clown and enlivened with the music of Luis Pacheco, the acrobatics of ChePedro and a party finale by Star Music that got the audience on their feet and made everyone present dance. .
