The role of the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana with INTA has been key to Maspalomas being finally chosen to hold the conference on the effects of radiation on components and systems (RADECS) in September 2024 under the leadership of INTA and the THAT. There is no exclusivity of hotels for attendees' reservations although the congress is held in Expomeloneras for a value of 390.763 euros.
The congress is the first staging of INTA in Maspalomas for years, where there are 36 antennas although people can only see two or three from the highways. INTA does not want to live with its back to the population and therefore its efforts to publicize its services. The 2024 conference is a European (and generally international) scientific and industrial forum on radiation and its effect on electronic and photonic materials, devices and systems. It will attract hundreds of scientists and engineers from around the world, focusing on the latest advances and results on open topics and challenges related to the effects of radiation. The City Council has the idea of proposing to INTA to make this event fixed in the south of Gran Canaria.
The 2024 edition will be held from September 16 to 20 at the ExpoMeloneras Conference Center. World-class experts will present in an atmosphere of cutting-edge research on the effects of space, terrestrial and man-made radiation on electronic devices, along with the latest radiation data collected on components of great interest to the space community. RADECS 2024 is organized by the National Institute of Aerospace Technology (INTA), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), on behalf of the RADECS Association. It is technically co-sponsored by IEEE-NPSS.
