The works on the new Maspalomas Municipal Market project, which is financed by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria with 5.987.223 euros, are more than a month late. It will have a total area of 3.799,02 square meters, of which the space for the market itself and the restaurant area will occupy 2.046,64, while the assembly hall with 384 seats will have 1.015,04, the terraces will be Of 759,93, 159,82 will be allocated on the upper floor to locate eight offices and a training classroom, and another 116,61 will be dedicated to the warehouses located on the ground floor.
The work on Avenida de Tirajana has been financed with 400.000 euros from the Cabildo's Modernization Plan for Open Commercial Areas, along with a very important provision of parking that gives prominence to pedestrians. The Insular Corporation has also financed a second provision of parking, which is endowed with another 600.000 euros and which is in the bidding process, which will complement the open commercial area and which will make it easy for citizens to access and visit This space.
Furthermore, it is a completely sustainable property, thanks to the design of a 100 kilowatt photovoltaic roof, with 117 kilowatts of peak power, the openings that occur in the building and the materials that are being used. The idea is that it will be inaugurated before the end of November or in December during the Christmas period. They began on November 28, 2022 and are advancing according to the planned pace, so the estimated date for completion is November 29, 2023.
In the design of the project, it has been taken into account that the market and restaurant spaces will be those that will receive the greatest influx of public, and the venue has been provided with an optimal level of accessibility, with an itinerary provided with ramps, elevators and adapted toilets. In fact, the building will be entered through a large hole, which will give access to a large interior space nine meters high and 3.000 square meters, of which the 1.583 that adjoin Avenida Alejandro del Castillo will be demolished.
Thus, in this interior area, the offer will be about 21 stores, of which 10 will face the outside with a terrace, and eight kiosks, where the consumption of kilometer zero products will be committed, to create an attractive gastronomic space. Likewise, the infrastructure will offer a 10.000 square meter car park, with 282 spaces, nine of them for people with reduced mobility, and charging stations for 15 electric vehicles. An area that can also be used for holding events and fairs."
In this new Municipal Market, an unloading dock for a truck and a merchandise control hall will also be enabled; new exterior lighting, with highly energy efficient LED luminaires; nine indoor toilets, five for people with reduced mobility, which will also have one of the two toilets that will be built outside. Likewise, the project will implement improvements in the outdoor bathrooms, landscaping, paving, signage and marking of the entire perimeter, and will have a large tent of 1.000 square meters, once the old structure of the building is rehabilitated.
