Gran Canaria Me Gusta opens its gastronomic space in 'La Molina'

Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the local product store La Molina, located on Triana Street in the capital of Gran Canaria, the Cabildo today presented a new gastronomic space within it, signposted with the image of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta program, with the which aims to expand the capacity to taste and market the local product that La Molina already has. 

 

 

 

 

During the event, which was attended by many of the producers who work with La Molina - from Agaete coffee, to Quesos Bolaños, Tenefé salt, El Lagar de Valleseco cider or La Higuera wines, among others - as well as representatives from shopping centers, tourist guides and other agents involved, the Minister of Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, wanted to express on behalf of the Cabildo "the pride and happiness" that it brings them to have the promoter of this project, David Hernández, in Gran Canaria. “I met him years ago and the respect and love he gives to our traditions and our cultural heritage immediately caught my attention,” explained the counselor, who assured that she did not hesitate to start a collaboration “that will continue from now on, because we share values ​​and objectives and with this collaboration we have already managed to bring together more than a hundred references from the Island,” he commented.  

 

 

La Molina, according to Hernández, represents the future of commerce on the Island. “I think the time for Chinese souvenirs has passed, more and more the Canaries themselves and tourists want to feel, experience and look for quality, and our producers have a lot of to offer," said the owner of this store who ten years ago, as he said today, arrived from La Palma to Gran Canaria to fulfill a dream for which he had the support of his family, "who mortgaged our only home, risking it at a single letter.” 

 

Today Hernández claims to be very grateful to his host island and expressed this in the card given as a souvenir of today's event with the motto "Thank you for so much love received, Gran Canaria."
