Representatives of the public and private sectors of Senegal are interested in the health and well-being offer of Gran Canaria

Professionals from various public and private sectors in Senegal have recently visited the facilities of the San Roque University Hospitals in Maspalomas and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in order to learn about their healthcare offering and promote future collaboration agreements. This new action is part of the Association's strategy Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health, official Gran Canaria Tourism brand, intended to promote the island as a health platform in countries on the African continent.

 

 

The Senegalese delegation, which visited Gran Canaria between December 12 and 15, was made up of representatives of Groupe Sud FM, a commercial radio station with coverage in the main cities of the country; CCBM Voyages, one of the largest travel agencies in Senegal; Sonam Assurances, a long-established insurer founded in 1973; Clínique de la Madeleine, a private clinic based in Dakar; Ma-Digd, a mutual insurance company that brings together Tax and Domain workers established throughout the national territory, and the Ministry of Health and Social Action.

 

During their stay on the island, they learned about the health and medical care services provided by the San Roque University Hospitals, both in the south and in the capital of the island, two health centers of recognized prestige in Gran Canaria due to the high qualifications of their professionals. , its specialized and wide healthcare offering and for the permanent innovation of its services. 

 

 

Strategy objectives

 

The development of this strategy seeks, on the one hand, to open new avenues of collaboration with different entities in the African country and, on the other, to reinforce the agreement signed in 2018 with the Government of Senegal by which it acquired the commitment to contract the services medical and surgical services of interest to their country offered by the hospitals participating in the association, while Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health undertook to organize and coordinate the necessary contacts between members of the African Government and its health partners so that they can inform of the characteristics of its facilities, the offer of care, the qualifications of the staff, rates and establish training programs, among other obligations.

 

The promotion of the island as a health platform has also led to subsequent collaboration agreements, such as those signed in 2022 between San Roque University Hospitals and two of the most important insurers in Senegal: Amsa Assurances and Prevoyance Assurances.

 

 

After the scheduled professional meetings, and a working lunch that was also attended by the consul of Senegal in the Canary Islands Katia Van Bockel, the members of the Senegalese delegation had time to enjoy the thalassotherapy center of the Gloria Palace San Agustin Thalasso & Hotel, one of the largest and most modern in Europe, as well as an excellent lunch at its panoramic restaurant Gorbea.

 

 

They were also able to tour the main streets and monuments of Vegueta, in addition to visiting the Boutique Hotel Cordial Malteses, Boutique Hotel Cordial Peregrina and the Boutique Hotel Cordial Plaza Mayor de Santa Ana, as well as getting to know the commercial offer of Gran Canaria in Mesa y López, such as The English Court.
