The Ekta Foundation delivers the proceeds from 'Christmas Crakers 2023' to the AECC to be used for research

The EKTA Foundation has delivered this Saturday to the Spanish Cancer Association all the proceeds from the 'Christmas Crackers 2023' campaign, an initiative that seeks financial funds to allocate to research against this disease and its multiple variants.

 

Christmas Crackers 2023 is the first event of the newly created Ekta Foundation, a non-profit entity created to support those who need it most, joining forces between all people, companies, entities and organizations that seek common goals: supporting research, training and food banks, as well as promoting study scholarships, among many other initiatives.

 

The fund-giving event was attended by the president of the Spanish Cancer Association, Fernando Fraile, and the First Deputy Mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Alejandro Marichal, among other personalities who did not want to miss the solidarity event.

 

A donation collection point was installed at the site to facilitate attendees and passers-by who could collaborate with the cause, an amount that was added to that given in previous weeks by registered volunteers.

 

Towards the 70% goal

 

The president of the AECC highlighted the objective with which the entity works: that in 2023 a survival rate of 70% of patients suffering from the disease will be achieved.

 

Currently, it is estimated that one in every 2 men and one in every 3 women will have cancer, a disease that acquires multiple variants and significantly affects those who suffer from it and their environment, changing their lives completely during treatments.

 

The president of the Ekta Foundation, Rakesh Ahuja, Adopted Son of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and active supporter of the integration of the Hindu community in the Canary Islands, highlights that the mission and vision of the EKTA Foundation can be summarized in a great phrase from the Hindu Nobel Prize Rabindranath Tagore: “He who plants trees knowing that he will never sit in their shadow has begun to understand the meaning of life.”

 

“The meaning of life is a meaningful life,” says Rakesh Ahuja. "Among all the volunteers who are supporting this cause, we are going to put our talent, effort and experience to contribute our grain of sand to make the world a little better or, at least, the same as we found it."

 

“Because we believe that research is what saves lives,” says the president of the non-profit entity, who highlights the necessary communication that must exist between scientists and laboratories and medical professionals, who contribute their feedback to the studies and advances made.

 

Ahuja announces more events, collaborations and efforts for the future “with the aim of improving consciousness and, if possible, the society in which we are fully integrated.”
