The project aimed at document conservation and its dissemination culminates with the obtaining of 5.476 high resolution images
During this month of December, the Municipal Archive of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has carried out the digitization of some 1.442 plenary minutes corresponding to the ordinary and extraordinary sessions that the Corporation has held during the century from 1870 to 1973.
This technical work, which has resulted in the obtaining of 5.476 high-resolution images, has been developed within the digitalization project of tangible heritage assets that the General Directorate of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands has promoted until last Friday December 22th.
The digitization project, quantified in about 611.000 euros from the REACT Fund of the Next Generation Structuring Funds for Aid to Recovery and Cohesion of the European Union, was also extended to the archives of other local administrations such as the town councils of Agaete and Teguise , and Cabildo de Lanzarote.
“The digitization of the plenary minutes of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council seeks its documentary conservation, but also enables its digital dissemination as cultural heritage of the municipality and the Canary Islands. In fact, the General Directorate of Heritage intends to incorporate them into its electronic transmission website to enhance research access to them,” says the second deputy mayor and councilor responsible for the Municipal Archive, Elena Álamo Vega.
