The Urban Planning Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council will propose to the December municipal plenary session to initiate the strategic environmental procedure for the minor modification of the General Urban Planning Plan in the area of Salinas del Matorral and Lomo Los Pajaritos. With this action, the Department of Urban Planning responds to the request presented by the El Salinero del Matorral y el Matorral Neighborhood Association; as well as the one presented by the Platform Association of Affected People of El Salobre, Lomo los Azules and Surrounding Areas to change the name of the land on which they sit.
In the case of Las Salinas del Matorral, it is located on rustic land in Costas and the objective, after completing the procedure that is being initiated, is for it to become a rural settlement with a perimeter of 35.900 square meters and with about 140 homes. On the other hand, Lomo Los Pajaritos is classified as developable land and will become rustic land for a rural settlement, “incorporating all the plots and homes that meet the requirements to be incorporated into the rural settlement, complying with the precepts of the PIO of Gran Canaria 2023 recently approved,” details the Councilor for Urban Planning, Davinia Ramírez. In this way, the plot on which it sits is limited to 32,51 hectares, with nearly 250 homes.
"The file that is approved today has a slow process, approximately two years, but after its approval the residents of both settlements will definitely be within Planning and will thus be able to give legal coverage to their homes," clarifies the Urban Planning councilor.
The first lieutenant, Alejandro Marichal (CC), points out that these actions demonstrate the “effectiveness, agility and correct strategy” defined by the Department of Urban Planning of rejecting the drafting or approval of a new General Urban Planning Plan and opting for minor modifications of planning prior to a study by the municipal Environmental Body that the Canarian Coalition launched during the previous government stage.” “We already announced it in the first plenary session of July, we will focus on regularizing those population centers that are outside Planning, as we have already done with Media Fanega, Lomos los Azules, Lomo La Presa and now we are doing with Salinas del Matorral and Lomo Los Pajaritos ”.
