Members of the Municipal Corporation and public employees of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council participated this Wednesday in a new minute of silence held at the doors of the Municipal Offices in memory of the murdered women, victims of gender violence.
This recognition of the victims of sexist violence has been celebrated since last September 27 on a specific basis every last Wednesday of the month, at 12:00 p.m., as an act of rejection against violence that directly affects women and men. minors.
This minute of silence at the doors of the Municipal Offices is an initiative of the Department of Equality directed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, who decided to remove it from the small space of the plenary hall to make it much more visible to the whole of the neighborhood society of this municipality.
“Violence against women is a very serious social problem that we have to combat together. Acts like this, no matter how small, with greater or lesser participation, are a manifestation of rejection and response against sexist violence. They are necessary until that problem ceases to exist,” said Elena Álamo after the event.
