Combating fraudulent sales in Maspalomas

The Local Police of San Bartolomé de Tirajana continues with controls aimed at combating and eradicating the illegal street sale of fake manufactured products in the most important public tourist spaces in the municipality. 

 

In this sense, the last three actions of the year carried out by a patrol of municipal agents in the Oasis Shopping Centers, Faro de Maspalomas and Annexes I and II of Playa del Ingles have resulted in seven searches of modified merchandise and the identification of at least five street vendors to whom the corresponding economic-administrative sanction proposal has been processed.

 

Among the merchandise seized from the manteros who exhibited their products to the public in the vicinity of the Maspalomas Lighthouse, and that confiscated from the street vendors who operated in the Annex Shopping Center, 87 bags of different brands and sizes were recorded; 19 handkerchiefs; 6 belts; 192 glasses; 170 custom brand caps and 18 Christmas caps; 42 watches; 10 small wallets; 8 rings; 152 arm bracelets, necklaces, headbands and hair bracelets, balls and mobile accessories.

 

 

The local agents also confiscated a bag with hair elastics and colored threads to make braids and a poster displaying the jobs offered to potential clients. 

 

The Councilor for Security, José Carlos Álamo Ojeda, highlights that these police operations are being carried out randomly and at different times to surprise offenders with greater effectiveness. In fact, the police patrol informed their superiors that “there is a considerable decrease in street vendors in the area, probably due to the actions carried out in recent days” at the CC Oasis, Faro de Maspalomas, Paseo Costa.
