The Christmas miracle of the Hotel Avenida in Vecindario

The Hotel Avenida de Canarias, in Vecindario, has experienced the miracle of Christmas in recent weeks. The establishment, which advertises itself on its website as “a business hotel in the main artery of Vecindario,” has not been able to find that target audience in the main commercial area of ​​the municipality, where despite offering restaurant services and hosting events youth events such as K-POP events or video games, has not emerged as a hotel reference in a municipality where tourists prefer to stay in the historic center and live a rural experience.

 

However, despite not having characteristics that allow it to compete against the large hotels in the south of Gran Canaria and having focused on catering and events, Hotel Avenida has become the sensation of this Christmas.

 

An achievement that has not been achieved thanks to major reforms, new services or a large injection of capital, but thanks to a very peculiar reason: Funkos. 

 

 

For those who are not familiar with new trends, Funkos are “big-headed” dolls that emulate singers, actors, athletes, cartoons and practically any character that has been or is in fashion.

 

The reason why these figures have been the reason for the resurgence of the Hotel Avenida is simple: a local store chose the interior of the premises to set up the largest Nativity scene from Funkos in Spain, with more than 500 bobbleheads strategically placed to create different scenes that They have delighted the most curious and fans of these figures, which are already considered collector's items.

 

 

The Bethlehem portal breaks with what is established, with Star Wars characters as the main protagonists and with Grogu (better known as Baby Yoda) as Baby Jesus as well as some “infiltrators” such as a personalized figure of the great Manolo Vieira. Assembly, by the store “Molaserfriki” of the municipality, is valued at about 20.000 euros and has already brought together thousands of people since its opening on December 1.

 

A show that has helped boost the economy of the main commercial area of ​​Vecindario (next to the Atlántico Shopping Center); an area that was already planning to increase its activity during the Christmas period but that has been overwhelmed with this unexpected ode to collecting that the Hotel Avenida has hosted.

 

Furthermore, “the magic of Tik Tok” has been added to the magic of Christmas, since a multitude of Canarian influencers have visited the Nativity scene and have published it on the Chinese social network, pushing many more people to visit the show from various places. points of the island.

El Belén will be available until January 7 and, although it may not mean the resurgence of the Hotel Avenida de Canarias as a large business hotel, at least it has managed to make it one of the most visited points in Granada for more than a month. Canary Islands and that many who were unaware of its existence have already located it on the map for the events that the establishment hosts in 2024.
