The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana highlights that the Carnival theme in their 'Golden Anniversary' will serve to remember the programs that “marked the history of television and that are part of our culture.”

'Alegría' is the title of the poster that will announce the celebration of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2024 dedicated this year to 'Television Memories'. The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez; and the Councilor for Tourism, Celebrations and Events, Yilenia Vega, discovered the winning poster next to the Maspalomas Lighthouse with presenter Roberto Herrera as master of ceremony.

The author of the work is Rubén Lucas García, a native of Murcia, and he participated in the competition to which 20 designs aspired that played with the theme chosen by popular vote and in which representative elements of Maspalomas were combined, such as the Lighthouse or the Maspalomas Dunes, with direct allusions to programs, series and characters that are part of the history of television. As the mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana pointed out, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the celebration of the Maspalomas International Carnival, which began in 1974. This date (the '70s) is also linked to the birth of historical programs of the television like 1,2,3 answer again; Chronicles of a Town or Man and the Earth... for this reason this year, "the theme of our Carnival in its 'Golden Anniversary' will also serve to remember those programs that marked the history of television and that we remember as part of our culture,” Pérez highlighted.

On the poster “we find a large hat that is also a curious television. A work that combines the memory of the years spent at carnival with the closest present. A clear, clean and simple work but with a high conceptual content, which brings freshness, color, joy and fun to the 2024 carnival,” the author described in his memorandum.
