The south of Gran Canaria exceeded 900.000 peninsular tourists in 2023, data with which Turismo de Gran Canaria and Maspalomas Costa Canaria are presented this January at Fitur 2024. According to data from Turismo de Gran Canaria, in 2023 551.000 arrived in Maspalomas peninsular tourists. This represents an increase of 17% compared to 2022. The average expenditure of these tourists was 56 euros per day, 33% higher than the average. 351.000 peninsular tourists arrived in Playa del Inglés. This Tuesday Gran Canaria Tourism will announce the island's strategy to attract tourism to the south of the island.
The month of August 2023 was the most popular for mainland tourists in Maspalomas, with 89.000 arrivals. This was followed by the months of July (67.000 arrivals), June (53.000 arrivals) and September (41.000 arrivals). Peninsular tourists usually stay in hotels, apartments or tourist complexes in Maspalomas. There is a wide variety of accommodation to choose from, from luxury hotels to cheaper accommodations.
According to Gran Canaria Tourism data, in 2023, 351.000 mainland tourists arrived in Playa del Inglés. This represents an increase of 15% compared to 2022. The average expenditure of these tourists was 54 euros per day, 32% higher than the average. The month of August was the most popular for peninsular tourists on Playa del Inglés, with 63.000 arrivals. This was followed by the months of July (50.000 arrivals), June (42.000 arrivals) and September (36.000 arrivals).
