Good expectations in the league with the Maspalomas Chess Club

The chess players of the first and second category formations of the Maspalomas Chess Sports Club have started the Gran Canaria team league with very good expectations, the first day of which was held last Saturday, January 13 in the large multipurpose hall of the Municipal Center of Equality of San Fernando.

 

Supported by the Sports Councilor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Ramón Suárez Ojeda, the Maspalomas Club chess players faced this first day with better results than expected, managing to take one and a half points respectively from the visiting teams, Telde Los Llanos and La Caja de Vecindario F, become clear candidates for promotion in their respective categories.

 

 

In that sense, in the first category, the unmitigated victory in 28 moves of its 5th board, David Vega Bautista, against Eladio Diaz Mendoza, from Telde Los Llanos, stood out for the Maspalomas Club. Also outstanding was the game in 40 moves that was formalized by Telde's international master, Neboisa Illijin, and the first board of the local Maspalomas team, Agustín Marrero, who could not finish off the clear advantage he had achieved during the game and ended up finally giving in. against the visiting player.

 

The game played in the second category by the first boards of the Maspalomas Club and Caja de Vecindario, Michael Haarkotter Martín and Domingo Morales Sánchez, respectively, was also a good dispute. Despite the small advantage of the local chess player from Maspalomas, both athletes agreed to draw and seal the game with the result of a tie after 25 moves had been practiced.
