Las Palmas stands up to the white giant

 

García Pimienta showed his chest at a press conference after his defeat against Real Madrid this Saturday. The Catalan coach was “proud” of his players and also of having stood up to an entire club like Real Madrid, going ahead on the scoreboard.

 

The yellows went ahead thanks to a goal from Javi Muñoz, who finished off a pass from Sandro after a combined play into the back of the net. Far from closing in behind, La Unión Deportiva did not lose face of the game at any time and forced Real Madrid to grit their teeth to achieve victory. The match was not without controversy, since the referee gave a yellow card for a possible attack by Rodrygo on Álvaro Vallés that could have led to the expulsion of the Brazilian and did not signal a possible penalty on Sergi Cardona after an action with Dani Ceballos.

 

With this match, the yellows close the visits of the “big two” of the competition this season with a negative balance (1-2 on both occasions in matches with a similar script) but with very good feelings after having stood up and having finished in both cases on the verge of scoring against two historic clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The yellows visit Granada next Saturday, February 3 at the Nuevo Los Cármenes Stadium and, precisely, a week later they host Valencia in Gran Canaria.
