The former president of the Canary Islands and of the missing CCN, formerly CDS, a party that AV de Araña del Toro was associated with before joining the PP, died this Friday, February 2, accompanied by his loved ones in a hospital in Las Palmas. Olarte has been a promoter of tourism in the south of the island, where he promoted infrastructure and the local promotion of tourism.

Lorenzo Olarte played an important role in the development of tourism in Maspalomas and Tirajana. As president of the Canary Islands from 1979 to 1983, Olarte promoted the construction of a new airport in Gran Canaria, which facilitated access to the island for international tourists. He also promoted the promotion of Gran Canaria as a tourist destination, and supported investment in tourist infrastructure.

As a result of the efforts of Olarte and Araña del Toro, together, Maspalomas and Tirajana became one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain. The region received millions of tourists each year, and generated thousands of jobs. Some of the specific tourism projects that were carried out during Olarte's term included the conception of the construction of the Meloneras tourist complex, which includes hotels, restaurants, casinos and other tourist services. Olarte also supported the promotion of Gran Canaria as a sustainable tourist destination. In 1983, the region was one of the first in Spain to obtain the Spanish Tourism Quality Seal.

Lorenzo Olarte's contribution to the development of tourism in Maspalomas and Tirajana is undeniable. His leadership helped transform the region into a world-class tourist destination.
