This afternoon, the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting that a person was in trouble in the water and had finally managed to climb onto the rocks on Vargas Beach, municipality of Agüimes.
A 58-year-old man who, at the time of initial assistance, is in serious condition after suffering incomplete drowning. The SUC staff assessed and assisted the affected person who, after being stabilized, was transferred in a medical ambulance to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
The Consortium Firefighters rescued the injured man from the rocky area in which he was located. The Civil Guard and the Local Police collaborated with the emergency services.
