The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana invites Reinhard Grindel, Helmud Brandt and Hans Wermer to promote the benefits of Maspalomas so that German football teams return to the municipality
The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez received this Friday the former deputies of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in the Bundestag, the Lower House of the German Parliament, Helmud Brandt, Marco Reinhard Grindel and Hans Werner Kammer, on vacation on the island of Gran Canaria. The Councilor for Sports, Ramón Suárez, also participated in the meeting.
The criminal lawyer Helmud Brandt, born in October 1954, was mayor of the town of Alsdorf, North Rhineland, and member of the Internal Affairs Committee and Justice Advisor of the CDU in the Bundestag. The journalist and consultant Marco Reinhard Grindel, 63, was a federal deputy between 2002 and 2016, and also treasurer and president of the German Football Federation (between 2016 and 2019) and vice president of the Union of European Football Associations ( UEFA). The merchant Hans Werner Kammer, 76 years old, was a member of the German Bundestag in different stages as a CDU deputy, and has a residential home in Maspalomas, where he spends long periods of time. It was the latter who promoted the meeting.
In the conversation they had, the mayor and the former German parliamentarians discussed the different football sports tournaments that are being held in this municipality, such as the Maspalomas Cap or the LaLiga FC Futures International Tournament and about the important media impact that these are providing for the external promotion of the municipality.
In this regard, the mayor placed special emphasis on the work that the municipal government has been developing, especially from the Department of Sports, to find dynamic and efficient formulas that allow the return of large foreign teams to Maspalomas, especially for their preseason training. and maintenance during the winter break, as was happening before the covid pandemic.
In this sense, Marco Aurelio Pérez appealed to the friendship and good disposition of the former CDU parliamentarians, especially the former president of German football, Reinhard Grindel, to promote the availability of the Maspalomas sports facilities in all football categories in that country.
At the end of the meeting, the former German CDU deputies formalized a visit to the towns of Fataga, Tunte, Ayacata and Tejeda, following the almond blossom route.
