This Saturday, February 10, the Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Ingenio City Council was held for the election of the new mayor and in which the new councilor Óliver Navarro also took office.

The session began with the words of the municipal secretary explaining the process and procedures carried out after the resignation of the previous councilor from the position of mayor, as well as his resignation from the councilor's record after which he proceeded to request the request from the Central Electoral Board. credential of the next on the list, falling to the person of Óliver Navarro Guerra. After the secretary stated that all the requirements were met for him to take office in that plenary session, Navarro promised the same, thus forming part of the 21 councilors who would subsequently proceed to elect the new mayor of among the heads of the list of their respective political formations.

The vote, carried out in a sealed envelope, gave the majority to Vanesa Martín (Fórum Drago-NC) with 14 votes, followed by Ana Hernández (PSOE) with 5 votes. Added to this was one vote for Rosa María Altafaj (VOX) and one blank vote.

The event continued with the acceptance and oath/promise of the position of mayor-president of the City Council of Ingenio by Vanesa Martín, the symbolic delivery of the baton by the accidental mayor, Rayco Padilla, the signing of the tonnage minutes and the speeches of the different spokespersons: Lucrecio Suárez (CC), Rosa María Altafaj (VOX), Minerva Artiles (Agrupa Sureste), Rayco Padilla (PP-SOMOS Project) and Ana Hernández (PSOE).

Finally, the mayor, Vanesa Martín, took the floor and, after thanking, first of all, “the opportunity for a woman to once again represent this municipality, which is, above all, generous, supportive ", empathetic and a fighter," he focused his speech on the importance of joining together, of working together for the good of citizens, putting loyalty to the neighbors of Ingenio above all.

During his speech he thanked the previous mayor for “the feeling of belonging, interest, desire, strength and enthusiasm,” “but we must continue with the established roadmap, fighting for the common good.” “Ingenio needs a strong, solid and united local government. Only then can we advance its development,” he added. In addition, he asked to “put aside criticism and personal discredit” and create a “healthy, transparent environment, seeking results.”

The new mayor stated that she faced this responsibility “which did not enter into my political or personal plans, without fear, with conviction, enthusiasm and, most importantly, accompanied by an impressive human team.” And he extended his hand to the opposition "without red lines, without rivalries or disputes, only with responsibility, because with his experience he has a lot to contribute", advancing among some of the measures to be implemented, holding meetings with it and opening the radio and public television to all political parties, in addition to announcing that a press conference will be held shortly to announce the government project for the coming years.

“The important thing is not what is promised but what is fulfilled,” he expressed, concluding by urging “to join forces to give firmness to all citizens with integrity and inclusion. Let's not waste energy on things that take us nowhere. “This municipality deserves better.”
