The Cabildo of Gran Canaria will dress up the Gran Canaria Arena on March 23 for the Gran Canaria wrestler Juan Espino's farewell to the professional world in the show 'La Farewell', an event supported by the Insular Sports Institute and in which It brings together world-class athletes and practitioners of traditional modalities from multiple countries, as well as celebrities who will star in Canarian wrestling matches.
The president of the Cabildo, Antonio Morales, stressed today in the presentation of the evening that “Juan Espino has been everything in the art of fighting and has also been the greatest fighter in the Spanish State, since there is no one who has dominated with success in as many modalities as he has done in his career", in which he has been El Trota in the wrestling arenas, El Guapo in mixed martial arts and the White Lion of Senegalese wrestling.
Morales also highlighted that Espino's career "was born from the Canarian wrestling, and from our vernacular sport it has fostered a look to then delve deeper into the Breton, Leonese, Senegalese, Brazilian or Korean fights, thus making the fight a universal and unity of the people, with a two-way communication of fighters who are in the fields of struggle.”
